Dear Parents,

This week started in style with our Year 6 Graduation celebration at Sharq Village. It was wonderful to see students from all three campuses come together and celebrate this milestone. Highlights from the evening included Dr Criessen’s commencement speech, ‘Most likely to…’ awards and a rather interesting dance-off competition! A huge thank you to the Year 6 teachers and Learning Assistants for their hard work ensuring the evening was a great success!

As part of their IPC learning about Artists, Year 5 visited the Picasso-Giacometti Exhibition at the Fire Station. The exhibit showcased over 120 pieces, covering paintings, sculptures, sketches, photographs and interviews with the artists. The students had a great time searching for answers and creating their own sketches of the eminent artists’ work.

Year 6 also had an educational visit linked to their IPC unit ‘Fairgrounds’. The students went to Gondolania Theme Park at Villaggio Mall and had a great time testing out the rides and finding out how the mechanics behind each one worked. These experiences will help the students design and create their own original fairground ride models. We look forward to the showcase of these models during their Exit Point later this term.

We also welcomed back students who participated in the Nord Anglia Music Exposition Dubai. In less than two days, students in orchestras and choirs from Compass, NAIS Al Khor, BIS Abu Dhabi and NAS Dubai got to know each other, collaborate, rehearse and perform together. It will come as no surprise that our students behaved impeccably and performed with pride and gusto. Please click on the links below to see (and hear) more about this wonderful collaboration.

Over the course of the week, our students have been sitting National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) tests in English and Mathematics. These tests are used by hundreds of schools in the UK and around the world and are one tool that teachers use to inform student assessment and progress. Unsurprisingly, our students have performed very well and in line with class teacher assessments.

Have a wonderful weekend!
