Last Sunday, our Year 6 children enjoyed an amazing Transition Day at Madinat Khalifa Secondary. Not only did they meet new friends from our Gharaffa and Madinat Khalifa campuses; they engaged in a full day of learning in science, art and music as well as some fun activities. They all left feeling reassured about the next step in their lives and having experienced a typical day in Secondary school. They can’t wait to get there.
This morning, our Year 6 children came together in an emotionally charged assembly, to share their memories and experiences of their teachers and time at Rayyan Campus. The children have gained so much confidence this year; learning to take risks, being adventurous and ambitious and having fun while learning. Each child spoke out articulately and reflected on their most memorable moments at school and the friends they have made. They are a fantastic group of children and we are confident that they are well prepared for the next exciting journey in their education and will continue to be successful in the coming years. I look forward to meeting many of them again at Madinat Khalifa next year and hope that they will all take some wonderful memories with them. Thank you to Mr Metcalf for teaching them so well and building their academic, social and personal skills over the last two years.
Congratulations to the class of 2017!
Samples of the new uniform are available in the Reception area for you to see. The uniform will be available from the end of August and we will organise a pop up shop before the beginning of term and in the first week of school to allow you to purchase it. We will have a changeover phase where children can wear their old uniforms as we transition to the new. A separate email will be sent out with details of the uniform requirements and prices shortly.
After a hard fought battle all year, we waited with anticipation as the House Point totals for the year were revealed in assembly. It was close, but South edged forward in the last two weeks to win the cup. We were treated to the last South house chant of the year by a very happy and victorious group of children. Well done South!
Thank you to our House Captains Meriam Zarzour, Mohammed Al Salama, Nero Stipicic and Jasmine Hawken for motivating the children each week, running competitions and representing their house so well. Our House Leaders played a big part in leading and motivating their team members so thank you also to Mr Metcalf, Mr Glover, Mr Akhtar and Miss Steele for their effort and support this year.
Our Friends of Compass Group has been very active this year in organising events both in and out of school. They are a fantastic group of ladies who love being able to make a difference and supporting the Rayyan Community. Thank you to the group for so willingly giving up their time to provide opportunities for our children.
Unfortunately, at this time of year we have to say goodbye to families and children who are moving on. It is sad to see children leave the school but we hope they will always remember their teachers, friends and the time they spent with us as being a great experience with many fond memories.
The Year Book will be available early next week if you have already purchased it and it is full of the stories and learning at Rayyan Campus this academic year.
Next week we are holding ‘Art Week’ in school with the theme of Pop Art. We are looking forward to working on the styles of different artists and creating our own masterpieces.
The final assembly of the year will be held next Thursday at 8.15am and will give us an opportunity to say thank you to the people who help us. If you would like to make a donation to the FCS collection, please do so at Reception. Your thoughts and kindness will be most appreciated.
To those of you who are travelling in the coming week, have a safe journey and wonderful holiday. We look forward to welcoming you back in September.
