Edwina Sweeney

Edwina Sweeney

Early Years 2 Teacher

With almost four years teaching experience Edwina has taught every stage of the Early Years from pre-nursery to Year 3 and therefore has an in depth understanding of the child’s journey throughout the Early Years. She has also taught in a wide variety of different schools ranging from inner city England to International Schools in Dubai, China and most recently Doha. In her Of.S.T.E.D. and KHDA observations she was graded Outstanding with particular mentions to the Curriculum quality and the quality of assessment and support.  Edwina has excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and is an excellent team member who is highly regarded by her colleagues and everyone she works with. Edwina came to work in Compass International School, Doha as she was looking for a position in which she can further her career prospects and enjoy her surrounding environment whilst doing so.

I have been teaching abroad for over 4 years now. I grew up in Ireland and moved to Liverpool to Study at university. After working in the UK I decided that I wanted to follow my dreams of travelling and working abroad which lead me to various countries and schools. I love to travel and immerse myself in new countries and cultures. I am also a keen photographer and like the opportunity to get unique and beautiful photographs from all around the world.

WHAT THE STUDENTS SAY ABOUT ME

Emily says: “Miss Sweeney is a fun teacher. She is always happy and makes me laugh.”

Alex: “Miss Sweeney is always smiling. She is very kind and nice to us.”

Marie: “I am always happy in Miss Sweeney’s class. She sings us songs and makes jokes. I like having fun and being silly with her.”

WHAT MAKES THIS SCHOOL DIFFERENT

The international atmosphere at Compass International School, Doha, makes it different to all of the other schools I have worked in. The diverse student and teacher community makes it a fun, stimulating and interesting place to work. It is evident that the teachers instil a love of learning in all of the children and they enjoy their job. I enjoy coming to work each day knowing that I will not only teach but I will be taught something new by my students and the other adults in the environment.
