Although I have spent the majority of my teaching career in Qatar I have also worked internationally as a teacher in Barcelona, Spain. Over my 16 years of teaching I have held various posts of responsibility in Primary School including Primary PE Coordinator, Key Stage 1 Team Leader and my most recent post was Deputy Head of a leading international 6th Form entry Primary School here in Doha. I am a dedicated life-long learner and continually look for opportunities to develop myself professionally. I have recently begun a MA Degree in Education with a focus on Leadership and Management. I was delighted to join the Compass EAL department in January on a part-time basis which has allowed me to balance my teaching commitment with both my study and my family commitments and I am looking forward to working full-time as a class teacher in Key Stage 2 in September.
Doha has been a significant place in my life as I met my husband here and I have a beautiful, seven-year old daughter called Sinead who I gave birth to here. In my free time, I like to spend time with my family and I endeavour to stay healthy by taking part in athletic events. I have a passion for all sports but rugby and running are my particular favourites. I have lived in a number of countries, including Morocco and Bulgaria and now I look forward to spending my summer vacation in our family home in Bulgaria.
My favourite quote is “The pain of reaching your goal will only last a short while. The pain of not trying, will last a lifetime” - Steven Aitchison
To me ‘Be Ambitious’ means aim high and work hard to achieve your goals and continually raise the bar for yourself. I am looking forward to helping my students to fulfil their potential and will provide them with the belief, confidence and skills to keep raising that bar.
