I graduated from the University of KwaZulu Natal, Durban, South Africa where I earned an Honours degree in Business Entrepreneurship. Following that, I then gained my PGCE with my specialist subjects being Maths, Business and Economics.
After graduating, I spent 2 1/2 years teaching High School Mathematics in Durban, South Africa. Then, in 2013, I moved and taught in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in order continue my development as a Maths teacher. I began my role in secondary Maths at Compass International in 2014 and continue to look forward to the challenges ahead.
Being new to the school, two things have stood out for me so far. Firstly; the staff have a very good relationship with one another. You feel like you are part of a team where everyone is willing to help each other out and there is a common goal that is focussed on the student. Secondly; the students have been very respectful and well mannered. They seem to appreciate what you are doing for them and generally have a great attitude.
The outdoors and being active is very much a big part of my life. I enjoy all sport and staying active. I have a passion for field hockey where I have played back at home as well as coached it at school level. Other activities I actively take part in are; golf, scuba diving and wakeboarding. I firmly believe that an active lifestyle is healthy for both the body and mind. It is for this reason that my philosophy is to promote a holistic education where the student has a balanced lifestyle inside and outside the classroom.
WHAT THE STUDENTS SAY

"I like Mr McIntosh's class because they are not boring."
