Message from our Principal
The ups and downs of the sporting life are very well known *ahem* to anyone who, like me, follows the fortunes of Cricket.
So…firstly “thank you” to our many South African and Australian (and Welsh and Irish and Scottish…) families who have expressed their sincere *ahem* sympathy for my position in regards to the England cricket team. I could tell you sensed my pain! J
Secondly, we’ve had our own mixed bag of results here at NAS.
I won’t go into the details of our victories and sporting defeats here. I will only observe that, unlike a number of professional players, all of our results were taken in good grace and with exemplary conduct that would make us proud.
The world of sport builds character and I can think of few better preparations for life. And, like music and the arts, sport is something to be treasured for itself. We can’t always win, but we always do our best.
Of course I am pleased that we have far more successes than losses, it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise. On the other hand I do take great pride in the deportment of our students under all circumstances. It marks us out as special.
Finally…the Mother’s Day assembly by EYFS was superb. Sign language, singing and a rose for the most important person in each little person’s life.
Message from Head of Primary
Our week in the primary school began and ended with celebrations of Mothers’ Day. On Sunday, (Mothers’ Day in the UK) all the children from EYFS took to the stage to sing some songs. The children sang with great enthusiasm and even used sign language during the ‘Rainbow Song’. I particularly enjoyed the videos of the children blowing kisses to their mums, and the pictures of our children and their mothers having fun together in a huge variety of ways! It was definitely tricky to remain dry eyed…
On Thursday we gave Years 1-6 a chance to think about their mothers during assembly and throughout the day, this time linking it to UAE Mothers’ Day which falls on Saturday 21st March. So if anyone forgot to spoil their mum on Sunday – there’s a second chance coming up for you!
Have a restful weekend, especially all the mums out there.
Message from Head of Secondary
This week in secondary we have recognised and celebrated the achievement of our students.
We have a number of our students attending the French & History trip, so it is the last time we will all be together before spring break. To celebrate the achievements this term our parents association surprised students with a movie. I would like to personally thank everyone involved. For those students not going to France we will follow the week 2 timetable as normal. Lessons will be very personalised and focus on individual development areas.
To our travelling students and staff ‘have a safe trip’ and our families staying here ‘have a great weekend.’
