Chinese Language

I was born and raised in a small town near Alessandria in the northwest of Italy. I graduated from Ca Foscari University in Venice in East Asian Studies with a major in Chinese Language and Culture.

I spent 10 years working and living in China and completed my teacher training at the University of Buckingham in the UK. I have been at The British School of Beijing (BSB - a sister school to NAS Dubai within the Nord Anglia Education family of schools) from 2009 to 2013 and at NAS Dubai since 2014.

At BSB I was head of the Mandarin department and am extremely proud of the outstanding results we achieved in I/GCSEs and A levels. We have established the same high standards here at NAS Dubai. We are the only international school that was authorised to be an HSK Test Center in UAE thanks to our cooperation with the Confucius Institute Global Headquarters in Beijing. Each year over 150 NAS students from Year 3 to Year 11 obtain the YCT/HSK certificate with great results.

Our multicultural team blends Chinese and western teaching methods to allow NAS students to learn the language in an engaging and practical way without forgetting the importance of reading, writing and traditional Chinese culture.

I love teaching and especially watching the way in which children soak up languages. I am fascinated by children raised multilingually and I enjoy learning about new teaching strategies to engage children inside and outside the foreign language classroom. Chinese is such a globally important language now, and though challenging, it can be done!

I live in Dubai with my husband and our two little girls. In our free time we enjoy discovering the city and the outdoors together, listening to music and cooking yummy meals for family and friends.
