I completed my BA (hons) degree in English and European Studies at Sunderland University before I embarked on my PGCE with an Early Years Specialism at the University of Hull. Further to this I gained a Masters of Education in International Education through a distance learning program. Continuing my professional development is very important to me as a teacher.
I worked in the UK for the first four years of my teaching career before moving to Dubai in 2010. Needless to say, I love the city and I have come to call Dubai home! I have previously worked in two other schools in Dubai and I was thrilled to become part of the NAS Dubai team last year.
My professional experiences to date have allowed me the chance to gain a variety of valuable teaching and leadership skills. Teaching in the 21st century brings forth many challenges because of the ever changing and interdependent world. I believe that all children should be equipped with the skills and knowledge that allows them to take control of their own learning through hands on experiences and enquiry based play. Opportunities to be creative and active encourage the youngest of learners to be resilient, to work collaboratively and express opinions with confidence and an open mind. My Early Years ethos will be very evident within my teaching practice at Nord Anglia International School Dubai.
My passion is within the Early Years of learning and education and it is a pleasure to be part of the excellent EYFS teaching and leadership team.
