I come from the beautiful Lakelands of Co. Fermanagh in the north west of Ireland where I studied Electrical installation and Engineering. After receiving my qualifications I headed to the “Big Apple” New York where I spent ten years in every kind of construction possible.
I moved to Dubai with my wife in 2012 and worked as a Design and Technology Technician in a thriving department for three years, allowing me the chance to work with a GCSE student in building an electric guitar. I am now delighted to be currently working at Nord Anglia International School Dubai as Design and Technology Technician and Health and Safety Officer.
I am very keen to share my vast knowledge and unique skills in construction that I have acquired in New York. As well as being a qualified electrician, I am a competent tiler, plumber and carpenter. I have worked on projects such as MTV cribs, in a wonderful NY village loft apartment for Vanessa Carlton. I have also worked on comedian Artie Lange’s Hoboken apartment and for the Food Network TV show in which we designed and built a unique Italian restaurant for Chef Cesare Casella, voted in the top five new restaurants in NYC back in 2006.
Outside of school I have a passion for the guitar and have played in bands from a young age. I play a little bit of drums, Mandolin and bass guitar. I also love fly fishing, canoeing, wind surfing and have a passion for art, especially portraits. I have been commissioned on several occasions and have even managed to sell a couple of pieces over the years.
I am very excited to bring my skills and “tricks of the trade” to collaborate and educate the talented students in the Design and Technology Department here at Nord Anglia International School Dubai.
