Secondary Business Studies & Economics

Originally I’m from Clonakilty in Co. Cork Ireland. Since I moved to Dubai over 8 years ago I have loved living in this vibrant city. I am so excited to be joining a fantastic team and look forward to bringing my wealth of teaching experience to NAS Dubai.

Initially, I completed a Bachelor of Business Studies with French degree at the University of Limerick. After graduating I got the opportunity to travel and took up my first teaching post overseas. It was then that I discovered my love of teaching. This new found passion inspired me to return to education in order to further my studies and I graduated from the University College Cork with a PGDE in Business and French.

Throughout my teaching career I have gained abundant experience in teaching various curriculums including IGCSE Business Studies, A-level Business, IBDP Business Management and IBDP Economics as well as MYP level Business, Junior & Leaving Cert Business and French. I am extremely dedicated to the students in my care and am interested in fostering their development and progression in the classroom in order to reach high levels of success. I am very proud of my past students’ achievements with many of them attaining outstanding results and being awarded places at very prestigious universities around the world. As a motivated educator I look forward to continuing these high standards at Nord Anglia International School Dubai.

Being passionate about my job and highly driven I have been fortunate to hold many positions at my previous schools. I have been pastoral leader for Key Stage 4 and middle leader of Sixth Form. I also currently hold the position of CAS coordinator. I believe all of this experience has helped me to become a better educator.  I am excited about future opportunities to develop even further as I continue onto the next chapter of my career with NAS Dubai.

I have always been fully dedicated and enthusiastic in any roles I’ve undertaken and I believe this is reflected in the work ethic and attitude of the students I am involved with. I very much look forward to sharing my passion for my subjects and my dedication with my new students at NAS Dubai.

Outside of the classroom, I have forged stronger relationships with my students through my involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh in the past. This included supervising school weekend camping sessions where students learned to develop their social and leadership skills as well as learning map reading, camping and basic survival skills. As a supervisor I also attended many of the weekend hikes and trips to the desert which I really enjoyed, especially being a fan of the outdoors. I like being active and keeping fit. I regularly participate in group exercise classes. I love friendly competition to keep me motivated during a workout. I also love travelling to new destinations and experiencing different cultures. You will often find me planning my next adventure.
