Secondary Humanities - History

I was born in Yorkshire where I developed a love of the English countryside. I have a BA (honours) degree in History and Politics from the University of Keele and I adored my university so much that I stayed there for my PGCE in History.

I am currently in my fourth year of teaching. I have been teaching in the heart of the Peak District in a large community based school. My teaching experience has catered to my ideals of maintaining strong community links and relationships with not only students but also the parent community. Being at a large school, I have been lucky enough to teach many students from different backgrounds and experiences and to have built positive and lasting ties with them. I have experience teaching GCSE and A-level students, along with extensive KS3 classes. My favourite aspect of teaching has been my responsibility as a form tutor. I have been able to watch them grow and mature over the years and it has been a pleasure to see the young adults they have become. I look forward to being able to replicate this experience whilst at NAS Dubai with all students in my classes and ensure they aim high and reach their goals.

I adore teaching active History lessons. In order to learn, I firmly believe that students have to be engaged and enquiring and as a teacher I love creating lessons which appeal to their inquisitive minds. I will always aim to challenge my students and to instil a can-do attitude within my subject!

In my down time, I love to travel, read and try and improve my very uncoordinated Zumba skills! I am a firm believer that we should all try something that challenges us - and might make us look a little silly!
