Mona Farsi

I am looking forward to teaching at Nord Anglia International School Dubai for the second year especially getting to know the new children and building their understanding of the curriculum in order for them to reach their full potential. I believe it is important to inspire them in an approach that is encouraging and effective.

Previous to living in Dubai, I worked in a variety of schools in London, teaching the British curriculum, giving me an insight into a variety of methods and working with a range of experienced mentors. This helped me to grow and evolve as a dynamic and progressive educator. In addition, working in such culturally diverse schools has been a challenging and incredibly rewarding experience.

I have taught a variety of key stages, I particularly enjoy Key Stage 1 as it is great to see the children explore the classroom and have hands on experiences in their learning. For me, teaching is an inspirational career and I believe it should be approached in a creative and inspiring way. Children bring rich, informal knowledge and concepts into class, so it is essential that the work provided is engaging and motivating. By incorporating child initiation in my exciting learning activities, I have been able to encourage children to improve their skills, explore their curiosity and challenge them, thus creating a positive attitude towards learning.

My interest in working with children stems from an early exposure to the teaching environment, where I undertook work experience in a nursery. I decided to complete an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Brunel University in London. This degree has furnished me with the knowledge and skills to facilitate children’s learning and growth.

My specialist area of expertise is in Science. I believe it is an important for the children to explore their curiosity of how the world works and I plan to teach this in a practical and creative way.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, keeping fit and spending time with my family. I’m really looking forward to meeting my new class and the parents as I am sure we are going to have a fantastic year!
