After studying Psychology and Education at Stirling University, I worked for Barnardo’s Education team which prompted a move to London, I then qualified at the Institute of Education at UCL in 2007.
Originally from Scotland but having qualified in the English system, I have worked in educational settings for over 12 years, teaching in both KS1 and KS2 as class and senior teacher and most recently teaching and assisting in the embedding and development of The Curriculum for Excellence in schools in northern Scotland. Since my first teaching post in East London I have been lucky enough to have had a truly diverse teaching career to date and my experiences have allowed me to develop my passion for delivering the highest quality learning and teaching for pupils from all backgrounds. Having taught in London and Aberdeen, I have had the joy of teaching children from all parts of the world. It is my continuing desire to support and nurture all of my pupils to access the curriculum in a personalised style that suits them as developing learners in an enjoyable and engaging setting.
In 2010 I decided to return to the IOE to complete my Master’s Degree in Art and Design in Education. My thesis focussed on the use of art and design techniques to overcome barriers to learning in all curriculum areas and this is something I still have a real passion for. I am enormously excited to explore the huge variety of creative resources that NAS Dubai has to offer pupils.
Outside of school I am a keen photographer who adores travel and has been lucky enough to see some really wonderful parts of the world. I am sure that Dubai will offer me some fabulous new experiences and even more beautiful photo opportunities.
