High School Clubs and Competitions

Book Club is a forum for students to discuss books in an intelligent but lively and informal context. Members generate recommended lists of books not studied in the school curriculum and vote on the ones to be discussed at meeting.
Chinese Language and Culture Club allows students to explore Chinese culture outside of the classroom. During meetings, the group not only practices the Chinese language but discuss current events in China. Club members also sample Chinese cuisine during meetings.
Creative Writing Club is a forum for students interested in literature and the craft and process of creative writing. The club provides a community of young writers and writing enthusiasts with opportunities to share their work in a supportive workshop environment, improve their writing skills, attend readings, enter contest and submit their writing for publication, as well as work on the production of a literary journal.
Debate Club allows students the chance to sharpen their speech and debate skills, show off their talent, and compete against other students within the club, as well as other schools.
French Club is for enjoyment of the French language and culture and to improve language skills as well.
French Honor Society (Societe Honoraire de Francais) gives students who are passionate about French the opportunity to explore more deeply the culture, language and history as well as improve the community awareness of all things French.
The Gay Straight Alliance is dedicated to discussing issues related to the LGBT community, fighting homophobia in the classrooms, and making school a comfortable, safe place for all. Everything discussed within GSA is 100% confidential, and it strives to be an open place for every student.
Harry Potter Club is passionate about the magical world of Harry Potter. The club has Potter-inspired events and is a fun way for Harry Potter fans at NBPS to get involved on campus.
Health and Fitness Club provides workout guidance, general health and nutrition coaching. Members of this club are able to craft a personalized nutrition & exercise plan to reach personal goals.
Investment Club gives students interested in business the opportunity to participate in stock trading simulations, discuss financial topics and get involved in other business-related events.
Journalism Club is for students interested in writing for the student online publication,Brainwash, Control your own thoughts.
Key Club is a chapter of a national service organization (Key Club International) of over ¼ million high school members involved in school and community service projects. Members work on group, year-long projects and individual short-term service opportunities established by the club. This is a good way to help the community and work with fellow students without having to create your own projects.
Mu Alpha Theta Math Team gives members the chance to sharpen their math skills, show off their talent, and compete against other students in our school, as well as other schools.
Multicultural Club celebrates the cultural diversity of our students and seeks ways in which to share these stories, histories and ideas. Promoting cultural awareness and understanding, this club hopes to better unite and integrate the school through educational and fun activities.
National Art Honor Society is a chapter of a nationally recognized organization that focuses on artistic scholarship as well as service and character development. Students work together in fellowship to promote art in the community.
National Honor Society is a nationally recognized group of students who exemplify service, character, leadership, and scholarship. Students are invited to join our school’s chapter of this prestigious national society of scholars. Members work to promote the four virtues of NHS through service projects and academic excellence.
NB Sparkles focuses on helping children with special needs through cheerleading and dance.
One Meal at a Time is a club that works to alleviate hunger locally by fundraising and volunteering. Students in this club have the opportunity to provide and cook fully-funded meals to donate to local soup kitchens. The club also sponsors annual food drives to support WECARE Food Pantry and engages in issues of global development such as raising funds for microfinance efforts.
Operation Smile is affiliated with an international non-profit organization dedicated to carrying out surgeries for children with cleft lips, cleft palates, and other facial deformities in underdeveloped countries around the world. Students involved with this club have the opportunity to raise money and awareness for this worthy cause, as well as attend summer leadership conferences and mission training workshops, with the possibility of becoming a volunteer on one of Operation Smile’s many medical missions around the world even as a high school student.
Ronald McDonald House Charities fundraises and supports the mission of RMHC to improve the health and well being of children by providing a “home away from home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized children.
Spanish Club is for enjoyment of the Spanish language and culture and improves language skills as well.
Spanish Honor Society gives students who are passionate about Spanish the opportunity to explore more deeply the culture, language and history as well as improve the community awareness of all things Spanish.
A Spring of Hope searches for rural, underprivileged schools Africa in desperate need of water and build wells there. This club raises money for building wells throughout the continent as well as awareness.
Student Government - The North Broward Preparatory School is extremely proud of our Student Government elected class officers, appointed positions and Legislator’s. Our mission aims to provide students with unique leadership skills as well as opportunity’s for community service and outreach. In addition to the many events and activities organized by our student leaders, the Student Government is also responsible for chartering over 40 unique clubs and after school activities.
Thespian Society enables students to continue their study and practice of the finer points of theater and the varied facets of dramatic presentations in a nurturing environment.
