Extra-Curricular Activities

Students are encouraged to involve themselves in Middle School Clubs like Student Government, Aspire (National Junior Honor Society), Chess Club, National Junior Classical League, Flag Troop, Math Olympiad, Junior Thespians, and Art Club.

The Global Games
All Middle School students are invited to compete in the “The Global Games,” an Olympics-themed event hosted on the Windermere Preparatory School campus. This event, held in December, features competitions between Nord Anglia Education schools in various individual and team sports.

Middle School Trips and Adventures

Sixth Grade

  • "Spirit of Unitas" Laker Adventure In recognition of the “unitas” spirit of Windermere Preparatory School, the Sixth Graders embark on an incredible two-night retreat to the Pathfinder Program in St. Petersburg, one that challenges them to develop positive and effective communities with their classmates. This retreat engages student learning styles to act, reflect, and transfer their learning. Most programs are held outdoors, for great fun, adventure, and learning. Students return to campus renewed and united, strong in spirit, mind, and team.
  • Disney's Youth Education Series Program at EPCOT
  • Orlando Repertory Theater/Shakespeare Theater – Students attend a showing of a play, based on curriculum connections. Not only does this connect to course learning; students also learn the value of live performances, play etiquette, and get a taste of downtown Orlando culture.
  • Community Service at Long & Scott Farm to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank

Seventh Grade

  • Crystal Springs Preserve Excursion
  • Disney's Youth Education Series Program to Animal Kingdom- Acting as makers and marketers of visual media, students learn how technologies, techniques, and storyboarding are shaping today's media and influencing audiences of all ages. Students will explore the unwritten language of images through digital photography and the art of editing, and discover the relationship between passive and active viewership.
  • Earth Day Outing
  • “Discover Florida” - Students explore Florida’s natural environments and learn about conservation via this three-night trip to the Florida Keys. Participants learn about the complex and fragile habitats in Florida while learning critical thinking and decision making skills about man’s use of natural resources. This trip offers students a fresh look at Florida, with hands-on experiences in the midst of marine environments of the Keys.

Eighth Grade

  • Disney's Youth Education Series “Properties of Motion” Program at the Magic Kingdom
  • Performance - Students attend a live performance related to current studies, either at the Orlando Rep or the Garden Theater. Such an experience brings the curriculum to life, and allows the Eighth Graders to experience Orlando culture.
  • Turning a Page Prep
  • Go West - Eighth Graders have the opportunity to experience the flavor, people, and history of the Great American West. Touring the Grand Canyon instills a sense of awe and respect for America’s land and beauty while bringing the Social Studies and Science curriculum to life. We’ll also travel to Native American reservations, Arizona landmarks, the Colorado River, and a ghost town. This week-long trip offers students the opportunity to “Go West” in style, sampling all that the Grand Canyon and its surrounding areas have to offer.
