U14 Girls' Football Tournament

BSG hosted the U14 Div 1, Div 2 and Div 3 Girls PRC Football Tournament on Saturday.

  • BSG Girls Football Teams 2016

The Div 1 Team faced their nemesis, AISG, for the first game of the rounds. AISG continued to dominate this performance with a 3-0 win. Second in the rounds was UISG. The UISG team have made massive progress and were a different team to the one we played in the cup.

UISG went 1-0 up after a couple of minutes, but by half-time, the score was  3-1 to BSG. BSG stepped up and played well in the second half, ending with a  6-1 win over UISG. The 3rd game was against CIS. Sofia scored quite quickly to get an early lead over CIS and BSG had most of the advantage throughout the match, with goals from Ayisha, Leiah, Annabel, Angelina and Iris. The final score was 8-0 to BSG.

This meant that BSG were once again playing against AISG in the finals. BSG started off fantastically, with Coco making some fantastic saves in goal. Ayisha then scored a cracking goal in the top right hand corner of the goal to go up 1-0. By halftime, the score was 3-2 to AISG. BSG played out of their skins — the best they have played all season, passing the ball back and forth to each other and creating space to outwit the AISG defence.

The defence unit of Christina, Mariana, Annabel and Ericca prevented many AISG balls through. The AISG GK was under enormous pressure and did very well to keep the score so low after BSG worked the ball up the pitch, helped by Gia and Leiah in midfield. AISG got a few lucky goals, which fumbled over the goal line, and unfortunately, time ran out for BSG to get the score back even. The final score was 5-2 to AISG.

However, a positive match to end the Football season and well-deserved 2nd place winners of the PRC tournament, as well as 2nd place  winners of the Guangzhou Cup. We now move on to the touch rugby season. Lets hope for further success in that.

Players of the tournament were Leiah and Christina.
