Trained as a teacher in the UK and qualified to Masters level, I have taught in the UK, New Zealand, Thailand and Italy, but most of my career has been in China, where I have worked for over 12 years. Most recently I was Principal of schools in Chengdu and Shanghai, and I also spent 3 years as Centre Principal/English teacher of a UK University Foundation programme in Guangzhou. In addition, I have extensive experience in English Language examinations, English Language learning strategies and university entrance/careers advice.
I am a family man and the proud father of twin boys, who are also at the British School of Guangzhou. Raising them occupies most of my free time, but I am also an avid music fan, and have tried (and failed) to be a superstar musician in the folk, rock and punk fields. As an Irish Kiwi, I am a passionate fan of rugby, although my playing days are over.
