After finishing my Honours degree at De Montfort University, Leicester, I began teaching in Guangzhou’s most successful language centre. From here, I wanted more of a professional challenge and to be a part of somewhere that would allow my skills to continue to grow, and after successful interview, found that environment I desired here at the British School of Guangzhou. I have worked at BSG for 4 years now and have developed a broad range of skills across the curriculum and have been lucky enough to teach ages 3 to 18 and learn from a skilled team of brilliant educators.
Working here has been the most positive career choice I have ever made. I have had the chance to develop my pedagogical knowledge in different areas of the curriculum, undergo professional development in Qatar, and in the future, I know I will have more chances to improve. The British School of Guangzhou truly delivers a world class education to it’s students while allowing teachers to grow at the same time.
I grew up the beautiful seaside town of Weymouth, Southwest England, and have extremely fond memories of the great outdoors because of my hometown. I love camping, music festivals, fires on the beach with friends, sailing and anything outdoors. However, these things have taken a backseat as of early 2013 when I embarked on something entirely different, fatherhood. I will soon be a father of two, with a baby girl on the way in August, which will no doubt change my life once again. I’m excited to see my first born, Oliver, walk into Pre-Nursery here at the British School of Guangzhou for the first time next year.
