Before starting university, I took the opportunity to work at the British School of Beijing as a Teaching Assistant. Here, I not only developed a keen interest in education and working within the Primary setting, but also thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in a completely new culture and seeing amazing parts of the world. I returned to England to complete a Bachelors Degree, followed by a PGCert in Education Practice. In the following year, I became fully qualified as a teacher when I completed a PGDip in Primary teaching.
After this, I took on my first international teaching post in São Paulo, Brazil. There I was able to develop my practice and work with a range of children from all over the world. It was great to live in South America and I was lucky enough to visit some breathtaking places, including the Amazon and the Galapagos Islands. After my experience as a Teaching Assistant in Beijing, I had always wanted to return to China and decided that The British School of Guangzhou was where I wanted this new adventure to take place. I am extremely happy to be here as the Year 2 Geckos teacher, and feel privileged to be working within such a strong and dedicated team.
In my spare time I enjoy a range of sports, including swimming, badminton, football, and when possible, snowboarding. When travelling, I am never without my camera and enjoy photographing wildlife. I love snorkelling, and although I feel a little nervous about it, hope to one day complete my PADI diving course to see more underwater life. I have moved here with my wife and my two dogs, Pepper and Tilly. We can often be found on long walks and enjoying delicious food. I love being in Guangzhou so far and can’t wait to explore more of the city and the rest of Asia.
