Staff Profiles: Nicole Torrens

Primary Teacher - Nicole Torrens

Year 1 Teacher

I am originally from the beautiful north coast of Northern Ireland where I studied English Literature at Queen’s University, Belfast. After a few years of working in various countries around the world, I settled in Edinburgh to train as a Primary School teacher. Over the years my passion for working with children has taken me all over the world, from remote village schools in South India to the ski slopes of Switzerland. In 2013, I left Scotland to join the BSG team in Guangzhou. Having never visited China before, it was a daring step but an adventure I just couldn’t resist.

I love to travel and have made the most of my holidays since moving to Guangzhou. My ideal holiday would be visiting somewhere I have never been before, leaving the travel guide at home and going off exploring. This year I would like to spend more time visiting places within China because there is so much to see - although I might need to brush up on my Mandarin first!
