Andrew Cunliffe

Year 4 Teacher

I trained and qualified as a Primary School teacher in Southampton, UK and initially worked in Year 3 and Year 4.  I have always been internationally minded and my desire to combine my love of teaching with the opportunity to work overseas was an obvious choice. I have worked overseas for 15 years and am fortunate to have worked in well-established and developing schools in Egypt, Thailand, Kuwait and Vietnam before arriving in Guangzhou.

Working at The British School of Guangzhou was a simple choice because I was keen to work in a school with a mission and values that I could identify with. Since arriving at the school in 2010 I have seen the school develop and become highly successful and  I feel proud to be a part of the on-going success of the school. In my role as Pastoral Leader I aim to build an inclusive and nurturing school that has the well-being of all at its heart.

I am lucky to enjoy my work immensely and when I am not working I find myself studying for a Masters Degree – which is very interesting! Otherwise I tend to enjoy the more sedate things in life: a good meal, a nice glass of wine and the company of friends. If I have the time I enjoy playing table tennis and am always looking for a partner for a good hit.
