Staff Profiles: Sarah Burgess

Science Teacher (Biology)

After completing a degree in Biochemistry, I wanted to take a break from education before completing teacher training to gain some professional and life experiences in the wider world. I hoped that I would one day be able to share some of these with my future students.

For a number of years I worked as a Project Manager in a large UK bank. During that time my proudest achievement was representing the company at a prestigious annual awards ceremony for a training programme I developed, which was shortlisted for the most innovative training programme in the UK financial sector category. By the time I completed my teacher training, I felt I was ready to face the challenging profession. Having already lived in China before, I was pleased to return and join BSG in the summer of 2013.

Having worked and lived in South East Asia for a number of years now I thoroughly enjoy travelling and exploring this amazing part of the world. During the school holidays, I will most likely be found relaxing on a deserted island somewhere in the Philippines. I am an animal lover and have been a vegetarian for 27 years.
