Staff Profile: Mrs. K. Doherty

Mrs. K. Doherty

Primary Class Teacher, 3A

Mrs Doherty grew up in Toronto, Canada, and started working as a certified gymnastics coach while attending high school and later obtained her undergraduate degree. After graduating from Brock University, she completed her TEFL qualification.

I found myself in Ulsan, South Korea where I taught English in both a private academy and local elementary school. I loved the culture and the people but after teaching there for two years, I decided to head to the UK to gain my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGDE) at the University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow, Scotland.

After I completed my degree, I headed to to Shanghai where I taught Year 1 and Year 3 at Shanghai Rego International School. While there, I ran a performance gymnastics club, as well as the subject coordinator for PSHCE and also enjoyed running the Primary Student Council.

I later moved to the British International School Shanghai and really enjoyed getting to know the fantastic children and working with outstanding teachers. I also loved the experience of coaching the secondary POM’s Team!

In my free time I love travelling, cycling and doing any kind of active sports.  I am happy to just spend time at home with the family or explore the city.
