Staff Profile: Mr. D. Reid

Mr. D. Reid

P.E. Teacher and Head of Sandringham

Mr. Reid graduated from Canterbury Christchurch University with a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science, receiving recognition for Excellence in Sports Psychology. He was the Head of P.E. in a Sports College on the outskirts of London before joining NAIS. Mr. Reid has taught both GSCE P.E. and BTEC Sports with outstanding results.

I have taught GCSE P.E. and BTEC Sport throughout my 13 years of teaching and in the 5 years I led a large P.E. department in UK where we enjoyed outstanding results in both GCSE and BTEC Sport placing us significantly above national average!

In my time as a P.E. teacher and Head of department in the UK I had many successes and some of the highlights for me were winning the U12 National Cup in football, taking a U15 team to represent the county of Essex in the All England Rugby Sevens finals at London Irish and in my final year in 2014, we were crowned National Athletic Champions which was a perfect way to finish my time at that school.

I have been lucky enough to work with so many talented athletes many of which have gone on to represent their county and country. The most obvious are the Stanley brothers where Michael is currently representing Samoa in the 2015 Rugby World Cup and younger brother Sam who is a member of the England Rugby Sevens squad and has promised to visit us at NAIS if he gets selected in 2016 for the Hong Kong Finals!

For me, P.E. plays a pivotal role and is the heart beat of the school in shaping young people’s lives.  I am extremely passionate about my subject, thoroughly enjoy teaching PE and educating students in the values of leading a healthy, active lifestyle.

Outside of school, I am the proud father of two boys who keep me on my toes. I enjoy most sports, probably classifying myself as a bit of thrill seeker and love the outdoor lifestyle.
