For the past twenty years I have worked in international schools in Africa and Asia, and also in the UK, where I have had the opportunity to take on different roles and to develop my practice as a reflective and effective teacher. My pedagogy is based on the interweaving of theory and practice and I have been inspired by the Reggio Emilia Educational project as well as early childhood pioneers, such as Friedrich Froebel.

Teaching is my passion.  I am a very enthusiastic and creative teacher who strives to accelerate children’s learning.  Teaching for me is a privilege, where I can make a difference to the lives of the children in my class and contribute positively to the school community.  I constantly seek to achieve the best from my children, however big or small that achievement, and celebrate their success inclusively with their parents/carers.  I have developed my career as an EYFS and Key Stage 1 teacher in a very diverse Inner City school in London.  During this time I was the Literacy and Early Years Leader, which gave me the opportunity to implement several creative and structured schemes which significantly improved results in reading and writing across the school.

I have been teaching for 8 years, however, this was not my first career choice, although it is undoubtedly the best. I completed an honours degree in Psychology and went on to work for the public sector. I then trained and worked as a fitness and sports instructor for some years before deciding that the children I coached were the main reason I kept doing it. From then, I applied for a PGDE which I completed at University of Strathclyde. I spent a year teaching Year 1 before moving into Early Years and discovered my absolute passion for it. In addition to my teaching qualification, I have certificates in sports coaching, teaching English as a foreign language and a range of training in many aspects of early years practice.

After completing a degree in Law, I studied for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, specialising in the early years. I have been teaching since 2011 and without doubt it has been an incredibly enjoyable and rewarding experience teaching children from a wide variety of cultures.

I enjoy being an active member of the school community and giving the children a wide range of experiences both within and outside of school. One of my proudest achievements has been raising the profile of sport within school. My personal highlights have included choreographing dance routines for a countywide dance festival and arranging for the school football team to visit a local premier football club to watch and meet the players.

After doing volunteer work in my old primary school in Bristol, I made the decision to become a teacher. I studied BA Honours degree in teacher training for 4 years at The University of the West of England; specialising in Early Years Education. This degree gave me experience right across the Primary age range and it was then I found I most enjoyed teaching the 4-7 age group.

After completing Bachelors of Science in Chemistry, I completed my degree in education and started working as a teacher in India. For four years, I worked as a full time science teacher in an elementary school in Madurai, India. I enjoyed working with children to achieve their potential and working together with parents.
