Following the work placement, I took up many different volunteer roles with local primary schools and youth sport teams which was a wonderful opportunity to work with children from a range of backgrounds in my community.
I graduated from the University of Gloucestershire in 2012 with a Bachelors of Education (B’Ed) in Primary Education with a subject specialism in Geography. After completing my degree I became a class teacher in an international school in Doha, Qatar where I was lucky enough to work with children from all over the world in both Key Stage 1 and 2. Returning to the UK I taught Year 2 children at a fantastic multicultural school in West London where I was responsible for the running of extra-curricular activities and been the subject leader for physical education.
I love to travel and seeing and exploring new places is one of my favourite things to do. I grew up in Cornwall and spent most of my time on the beach and as Houston is so close to the coast I’m excited to get back in the sea! I am passionate about sport and take part in something active almost every day whether that is running, swimming, rock climbing or playing a sport as part of a team! I began playing football when I was in primary school and am a huge fan of Arsenal F.C.. I am also a huge fan of Lego and always make sure to have a set available in my classroom ready for when somebody has an amazing creation to build!
What students say about me
‘I like Mr Brown because he is funny, good at sports and makes fantastic learning for us!’
‘I like Mr Brown because he plays with us and helps us build our Lego ideas’
‘Mr Brown cares about everyone in our class and has a happy smile’
This school is different to all others I have worked at because...
The ethos of the school is perfectly in line with my own. The belief that there are no boundaries to how much a child can achieve is one I hold wholeheartedly and I look forward to helping all learners be ambitious and make incredible progress. I can wait to use all of the new facilities to create wonderful and unique learning opportunities. Especially with the ability to use outdoor space as part of the children’s learning without having to worry as much about the weather as we often have to battle the rain in London! I am also excited about once again getting to work with children from all over the world, I’m sure I will learn about parts of the world I have not seen from the children.
