Leadership Release Cover Teacher

I began teaching in 1996 after graduating from Roehampton Institute (University of Surrey). I started my career working in an inner city school in Southwark, London. After 3 wonderful years teaching in Reception I moved to Manchester. It was there that I gained experience working in a larger school with children from a variety of religious and cultural backgrounds. I was also given the opportunity to work in both Early Years and Key Stage 1 classes. I then moved to a school in South West London.

After 3 years teaching in London I had my first child, Scarlett, and was lucky enough to go back on a part-time basis to cover teachers in both Key Stage 1 and 2. After a career break to have by second child, Finlay, my husband’s job took us to Singapore. It was there that I got my first insight into working in a large international school as I was supply teaching at Tanglin Trust. We had 7 fantastic years there, including having my third child, Freya. My husband’s job brought us to Houston last year. After spending last term supply teaching at BISH, I am really excited to be more involved this year and become part of an amazing team.

Moving to Singapore with my husband’s job gave us a wonderful opportunity to explore many parts of Asia and Australia. We have begun to make the most of Houston’s great location to travel on this side of the world. I enjoy playing netball and am determined to enter some more 5k races in Houston!

This School is different to all others I have worked at because…

There is real sense of community here. My children are participate in each phase of the school, from Early Years to Secondary, yet there is a feeling of being part of one big family. The unique approach to learning, the enthusiasm from every member of staff and the wonderful new building and resources all add up to a very exciting place to be. I am looking forward to being part of what is happening at BISH.
