Staff Profile: Lesley Watson

Lesley Watson

Year 5 Class Teacher

Originally from the Wirral in the UK, I studied Popular Music at Bretton Hall, Leeds University and graduated in 2003.  The summer I graduated, I had an amazing opportunity to work in Maine, in an American summer camp.  This experience inspired me to pursue a career in teaching.  Since then, I have worked as a peripatetic music teacher, teaching the keyboard to primary school children and I qualified as a teacher in 2005 through the GTP route.

I worked in a primary school in Manchester, starting as an NQT and progressing to Middle Leadership, leading PE and The Arts. I was drawn to Houston as it is such an exciting, vibrant city.  I decided I wanted a new challenge in my career, a new lifestyle for my family, some sunshine and have not looked back since!

I met my husband, Mark at university and we have 2 children; Elliot who is 4 and Edie who is 18 months.  They keep me very busy!  We enjoy family days out, ice cream and spending time with family and friends.

I would say I am creative and extremely enthusiastic.  I enjoy music/performing arts and can play piano, guitar and violin.  I like to attend gigs, festivals, concerts - I can’t wait to get involved in the school music scene!

This school is different to all others I have worked at because it provides students with opportunities that will make them succeed and further develop themselves.  The diversity of students makes teaching so exciting and such an enjoyable, rewarding experience.
