Staff Profile: Rosalyn Williamson

Rosalyn Williamson Primary Year 3 Class Teacher

Year 4 Class Teacher

During my degree course, Joint BA (hons) Childhood and Youth studies combined with American studies, I spent time studying at Bridgewater State College, MA. It has been my life-long ambition to teach in the United States of America.  I taught in Oldham, Greater Manchester since 2006. Before becoming a teacher I worked as a teaching assistant. However, I always knew that I wanted to teach and provide children with a  memorable, good quality learning experience. During my first 2 years as a practitioner, I taught Year 6 and Year 4 before arriving in a wonderful Key stage 1 team where I stayed for 4 years.

As a life-long learner, I aim to provide children with a valuable and positive learning journey whereby they can feel safe, successful and reach their full, academic potential through a variety of strategies. I wanted to teach from the age of 5. My inspiration was my Year 1 teacher. She was creative, kind, bubbly, approachable, learning focused and catered for my very kinaesthetic learning style. I aim to provide children with a creative, cooperative approach to teaching and learning. I see ideas in children’s needs and interests and use the ideas to create fun, challenging learning with many ‘magic moments’. Accepting a job at the British International School of Houston was a very exciting opportunity and I have never looked back.

Teaching is my life but I have a number of hobbies that I enjoy. I love to visit new places, read books, eat delicious food at nice restaurants, go to see shows and swim. During the month of February I can usually be found fitting into Texan life at the rodeo. It is incredible. Spending valuable time with my Mum, sister and friends is my favourite thing in the world so I enjoy seeing them during my summer holidays. I love butterflies, the colour purple, live music, the sun, my friends, family, freesia and the seaside. I am very approachable, think that teaching is the most fulfilling job in the world and adore the children, families and staff community at the British International School of Houston.

What the students say about me...

“Everyone knows that Miss Williamson loves the colour purple."

“Miss Williamson loves learning and children."

This school is different to all others I have worked at because…

The British International School of Houston has a commitment to excellence and is an outstanding  school consistently. It provides quality educational opportunities for all of our students. The school actively encourages all students to achieve the best they can. As staff, we seek to promote within our students a positive vision for their future and we help our students become balanced, successful and develop a passion for high performance learning. The children, families and staff community at the British International School of Houston make it a very special place. From the moment you walk through the door, you immediately feel happy. The children are wonderful, extremely well behaved and respectful. We are one big school family.
