I began teaching in 2003 after qualifying from Liverpool John Moores’ University. Since that time I have worked in a range of Primary schools across the North of England and my most recent post was in Bangkok, Thailand. During my career I have taken on extra roles and responsibilities, leading the year group, curriculum and assessment across Key Stage 2.
I have always wanted to teach in the USA and when the opportunity arose in Houston it was the perfect opportunity. I am looking forward to being part of a very exciting adventure at BISH.
From school age I have always had a keen sporting interests and enjoyed playing field hockey and netball; I still play netball regularly for a competitive club and have previously coached the school netball team. I like to keep fit and regularly work out, attending Pilates, Zumba and Body Pump. I love trying new food and enjoy eating out and socialising. I have a keen interest in literature and films. I am currently trying to learn a new language (Spanish) and have weekly private lessons for this. Since qualifying as an advanced PADI SCUBA diver, I have travelled throughout Asia, completing over 50 dives and continuing to develop these skills by learning to dive with nitrox enriched air.
What the students say about me
“Miss Steph is really funny and I enjoy learning with her.”
“When she explains how to do something it makes sense, I don’t hate division anymore!”
“I like how she smiles a lot and just tells us to try our best, it doesn't matter if we make a mistake, as that is how we learn.”
This school is different to all others I've worked at because...
I am looking forward to working on the brand new campus with passionate and diligent colleagues, I think these are very exciting times for BISH.
