I am an experienced teacher of the Humanities and have taught Geography at KS3, GCSE, IB and A level, Psychology at IB level/ GCSE and History and Citizenship at KS3. I have been teaching for 11 years and began my career at St Gregory the Great Catholic School (located in the city of Oxford, UK). I was Head of Geography at the school for 7 years.
I took part in the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program during 2005-2006 and spent a year teaching in Susan B. Anthony Middle School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The year spent away motivated me to consider future teaching opportunities overseas and in 2011 I was appointed at the British International School of Houston.
I hold a BA Hons degree in Geography from Oxford Brookes University and I also have a PGCE in Secondary Geography.
Being a Geographer, I love travel and this is my favourite pastime. Living in the United States has created excellent opportunities to further this hobby and it has also provided some interesting material for the classroom!
I enjoy running, when it isn’t too hot! I have also started to practice yoga. I appreciate the arts and you can often find me at an art exhibition, music concert or attending a play at the theatre.
What the students say about me...

"Ms Capper has taught me so much in the past few years. She makes lessons fun and exciting and adapts them for whoever is in the class."
"Ms Capper has made me greatly enjoy Geography over the last few years. She has always taught us using a wide range of different methods to make our lessons more exciting."
This school is different to all others I have worked at because…
The school is a fantastic place to work as a geographer. With students from almost every continent, it is possible to draw on their knowledge and experience to make lessons interesting and relevant. The students at BISH are extremely well mannered and kind and this makes it a lovely place to work.
