Marloes Van Oostenbrugge: Staff Profile

Marloes

Nursery Teacher | NTC Teacher

Marloes studied at the Pabo in the Netherlands. After qualifying as a teacher, she worked in a local school with a focus on Early Years teaching. She has been living in Jakarta now for several years.

Qualifications

Pabo with a specialization in Early Years Childhood and play based learning

Biography

Marloes worked at ING bank head office in Amsterdam for several years before deciding to retrain as a teacher. She specialized in Early Childhood Education and started working as a group 1-2 teacher in a local school before taking on the role of Early Years Coordinator. Then she realized she needed a change and decided she wanted to see more of the world. Not just by going on a holiday but by living there. She applied for a job at NIS in Jakarta and started teaching Nursery 1 and 2 in the day school and Dutch cultural and language lessons to Dutch group 3-4-5 students.

Marloes is very passionate about teaching Early Years students in a play-based way and loves searching for the perfect balance between student led and teacher led learning.  She’s keen on creating a safe and creative environment where children expand their curiosity, wonder, and desire to learn.

In her spare time, she’s very interested in travelling, loves good food and meeting friends. She goes to the gym and does yoga several times a week. This year Marloes really wants to learn how to play the guitar and might start swimming lessons too!
