Typical school day

Your child will love to come to school and love learning at Nord Anglia Chinese International School.

  • Day school

Students are welcomed to school each morning between 8:00 and 8:20. At 8:20 students will be collected by their homeroom teachers from the school’s central atrium and taken to their homeroom for registration. During registration, homeroom teachers will ensure that students have everything that they need for the day, taking any messages from home and delivering any school notices pertaining to the day. Once registration is complete, students will either remain in their homeroom or move to a specialist learning area and begin their first learning session of the day. Once a week, students attend assembly, where together as a school, we share in the learning taking place around the school, celebrate joint and individual successes, sing together and grow the ethos of the school.

Students experience a variety of learning sessions each day and teachers integrate content and language learning making learning a dual-focus, namely the learning of content, and the simultaneous learning of language. Mid-morning, students break for 20 minutes to replenish their energy levels with a healthy snack, play together outside in the gardens, enjoy testing their motor skills on the playground or sit and socialise with their friends. Later in the day, students break for a further 45 minutes for a delicious lunch in the school canteen. Students enjoy a choice of healthy dishes that stimulate brain activity and promote healthy lifestyles. Lunch times are a social time of the day where conversation is encouraged and students have the chance to practise and share what they have learned in their morning learning sessions.

After a stimulating day of dual-focussed learning, students have the opportunity to explore their talents and grow their skills in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. Sport, art, music and language clubs give students the chance to explore these subjects in fun, exciting and interactive sessions. Added to this, students are encouraged to represent the school where possible by  joining a competitive sports or debate team, musical or dramatic ensemble.
