Nord Anglia International School, New York, offers a program for 2-year-olds which uses song and play to sow the seeds of literacy, numeracy, and language.
Our 2-year-old program is a fun environment for children to start learning.
Our approach uses play, song, and movement to help children take their first steps with literacy and numeracy skills. Our playful learning experiences set your child up for a future of learning.
Led by qualified UK teachers, our programs run from 8:30 to 11:30 with options available for full day from 8.30 to 3.00.
Our program focuses on:
Reading: Your child enjoys reading through group story-time sessions, and builds up the ability to recognize words as age-appropriate confidence is developed.
Foreign language: Your child picks up the building blocks of Spanish through games involving song and movement
Holistic Approach: Our teaching staff provide a safe and nurturing environment in which a curious and exploring child can learn "why", while giving them the opportunity to play and meet new friends. The learning they absorb at this early age sets them up for a future in which they are more confident, more socially-assured, and more in-tune with their personality, their talents, and their learning abilities.
We use the Development Matters approach to learning, which is designed for children learning the English National Curriculum up to the age of five. This approach stresses the personal, social and emotional development of the child, as well as communication, physical development, literacy, math, art and design, and world understanding.
