I grew up in Peru where I graduated from Universidad Mayor de San Marcos with a Bachelors degree in Social Communications. Later, I moved to the USA, felt called to the Educational field and started working in a preschool, which motivated me to begin studies in Early Childhood Education at the Masters level. Once I moved to New York, I started working as a Spanish teacher and tutor and completed many professional development courses. Throughout my Spanish teaching career, I have had the wonderful opportunity to teach a diverse group of children ranging from 18 months to middle school age. I enjoys creating engaging lesson plans that motivate students, acknowledges different learning styles and instils a love for learning Spanish language and culture.
In my free time, I love reading and going camping and hiking with my husband. I also cherish travelling to Peru to visit my family.
What do the students at WCLA New York say about Silvia?
“You make sure that Spanish lessons are fun!”
“You are fun and fantastic!”
Working for World Class Learning Academy has given me the opportunity to teach children of different backgrounds and cultures. It is very exciting to share my knowledge of the Spanish culture with them and learn about the students’ culture; finding out with them similarities, differences and understanding how we are all part of a great school community that foments respect and love for learning.
