The Benefits of Boarding at Regents International School Pattaya
Parents who choose to send their son or daughter to boarding school never make the decision lightly, because it involves a significant change to family life. It’s not an option for everyone, and not all children are well-suited to life in a boarding house, but there’s no question that those families who do opt for boarding can point to some great advantages – whether they’ve chosen ‘full boarding’ (seven days a week, sometimes with weekends back at home) or ‘flexi-boarding’ (up to two nights per week).
The Benefits of Boarding at Regents International School Pattaya Have you thought about what your child has to gain from boarding school? Parents who choose to send their son or daughter to boarding school never make the decision lightly, because it involves a significant change to family life. It’s not an option for everyone, and not all children are well-suited to life in a boarding house, but there’s no question that those families who do opt for boarding can point to some great advantages – whether they’ve chosen ‘full boarding’ (seven days a week, sometimes with weekends back at home) or ‘flexi-boarding’ (up to two nights per week).
Responsibility and Maturity

Your son or daughter will be expected to become increasingly responsible from the moment they begin life as a boarder in Thailand. In our boarding school, students must focus on developing a good sense of time management in order to strike a balance between their academic obligations and the wide range of extra-curricular activities which are on offer to them. They must learn the importance of living in harmony with the other students and staff in the boarding community. They must take a responsible attitude to respecting the space and personal possessions of other boarders.

As a result, boarding students are well-prepared for later life, like the pressures which come from living as part of a much bigger community at university.

Increased Academic Support

Our boarding school students benefit from having a helping hand on offer after school. Across the course of an academic year all of our teachers spend time in the boarding houses during designated ‘prep’ (study) times, assisting the students with their home learning – particularly those who may still need support to develop the good habits of an independent and responsible learner.

Boarders also benefit from access to school resources in the evenings and at weekends, most notably the IT facilities, art rooms, music studios and sports facilities.

Memories and friendships which will last a lifetime

It may seem like a tired cliché, but learning should be fun. Making lifelong friends and having shared experiences go hand-in-hand with academic performance in our boarding school. Taking part in a wide range of after-school and evening activities and excursions at the weekend is one way (among many) in which students forge strong relationships with their peers.

Stability and Structure

Balancing family life and work can be tough. Parents who are constantly travelling, or spending a lot of time at work, are drawn to the flexibility of our boarding school because it helps them to achieve that balance. During the week, their children enjoy a routine which helps them to get the best from the academic and wider life of the school; and at the weekends, the children can travel home to spend quality time with their families.

It’s also worth remembering that students who board do not have to commute to and from school each day – which in Bangkok can often represent three hours of travelling. Busy parents can therefore be reassured that, whilst they are at work, their children are well-occupied in a safe, secure and spacious environment.

A welcoming environment

We spent 20 million Baht over the summer vacation to redecorate and refurbish both our girls’ and boys’ boarding houses and they look amazing. We want our students to feel at home when they finish a day at school and the latest changes make sure Regents provides modern, warm and welcoming facilities to its boarding community.
