Great Start to the Season for Y6 Girls' Football

The team enjoyed a comprehensive win against Garden International School in yesterday's fixture. Read the game report here from Mr Luke Poppelton.

Despite having very little time to prepare following a long journey, the girls immediately started well. The opening exchanges were very close and mostly played in midfield. Garden then had an early chance, which they took to put them 1-0 up. However, Regents didn’t let that discourage them and were level very shortly after thanks to Paloma, who scored the first of her 5 goals in the game. She picked the ball up in her own half before running the length of the pitch before scoring in the top corner.

Minutes later, Katya, on her debut, ran with the ball down the left flank before crossing for Paloma to score her second of the game. The game continued to be tight and Elyse had to make a quick reaction save to keep Regents in front. Right on half-time, Paloma was able to score again thanks to good work from Lydia, giving Regents some breathing space.

After the break, Paloma scored early to make it 4-1. Garden tried to come back into the game, but couldn’t score thanks to some brilliant defending from two more debutants in Karis and Moji, who made several very good blocks. Garden did get their reward eventually however, but Paloma restored our 3 goal advantage with the goal of the game, taking on 3 players in a stunning run before a wonderful finish from the edge of the box. A great start to the new term.’
