2017 Summer School – Week 3 Highlights

The children had a blast during the last week of this year’s Summer School Programme here at Regents International School Pattaya.

The young Explorers got their hands dirty in the kitchen by making cookies at the Holiday Inn hotel’s bakery. Led by the hotel’s own qualified bakers; the children mixed their own raw ingredients, added chocolate chips, made the mixture into shapes and baked them in the oven to create delicious warm cookies to share. To the children’s excitement, Regents had a visit from Pattaya city's fire department who talked to the children all about what it is like to be a firefighter and let them have a ride in the fire engine!

The highlight for the Voyagers would definitely have to be their trip to Khao Kheaw open zoo - Chonburi province’s largest interactive zoo. It houses over 300 species of animals both local and exotic types from countries far away; allowing the children to see variations from penguins and koala bears from Australasia to safari animals like giraffes and rhinoceroses from Africa. They were even lucky enough to hand feed green beans to friendly deer and walked through the spacious aviary which houses over 80 types of birds. After watching the film ‘The Lion King’ together at school, the children were very excited to point out all the animals they recognised.

Secondary English Teacher Liam Steele who led the Pioneers says: "This week has all been about one word - the ‘beach’. Students have been challenging themselves all week on the sea testing their skills. Whether it has been trying to stand up on a paddle board or trying to catch the breeze whilst windsurfing. For the less adventurous, they got to sail the sea on a catamaran. As well as chilling at the beach, the Pioneers worked up a sweat at Jump XL as well as playing their usual favourite game of dodgeball. The Pioneers rounded off their week with a pool party and barbeque to say farewell to their friends they have made at Regents' 2017 Summer School."
