An informal group that reads and discusses current affairs relating to business and economics via a range of media from Pod casts to news web sites, documentaries and movies. This is an ideal club for all IB students who have to work on Internal Assessments in both subjects.

 

Japanese Origami

Japanese origami is the art of paper folding which began hundreds of years ago. Learn to make a variety of beautiful creations which can be used as decorations or thoughtful gifts.

 

Creative writing with an international twist

A journey around the world looking at different types of writing and poetry. Create and write your own masterpieces whilst filling up your own literary passport.

 

Music GCSE and IB Course Support

Students who are taking the GCSE and IB course can attend this session to focus on specific areas of improvement in either their performing or composing coursework and have the opportunity to consolidate their subject knowledge in preparation for the listening exam.

 

Chamber Orchestra

Location: Primary Music Room

 Chamber Orchestra is an activity for accomplished players of flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons, French horns, trumpets, violins, violas, 'cellos, double basses and percussion. There will also be an opportunity for a limited number of competent keyboard players to play lower string and wind parts on keyboards. Chamber Orchestra usually performs works from the early classical era, but may occasionally perform works from the romantic and modern eras. Chamber Orchestra is sometimes called upon to provide music for school events such as prize-giving and graduation. Players can expect to participate in two school concerts a year, which are usually held in the early evening.

Individually or with friends, make your own amazing stop motion animations.  Use Lego, plasticene, paper, pens and whiteboards to tell your stories.  Develop patience, resilience and imagination.  Please be aware that you need to provide your own camera, tripod and toys.

Cycle on tracks and roads near to school to learn road safety and bike maintainance, develop off road skills and improve your fitness.  Having your own bicycle is preferrable but not essential.  Please where PE kit and trainers and bring a bottle of water.

 

Junior HMST Mathematics competition

Math preparation for year 9 for the HMST Mathematics competition in March 2018 in Suzhou.  Students attend a rigorous three day event of Math tasks and puzzles. Last year the winning team won a free 4 week summer school program in the States or England, where they toured and tried different universities and programs. It is an excellent opportunity to meet other young people who love Math.

Students will also have the opportunity to lead and create choreography. Specializing in Contemporary dance, choreography and creative dance open to all abilities in years 7, 8 and 9.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Sports Hall

Develop confidence, mobility and personal fitness by taking part in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for beginners. A key aspect in mixed martial arts, BJJ will involve general self defence techniques, submissions and escapes.

Theatrical Composition for the Secondary School Production

Miss Andrews

Location: Roundhouse

Get a feel for what it is like for a professional theatre composer!  In order to join this club, you music speak to Miss Andrews first. You will work with other musicians to compose and perform live the music for the Secondary Drama Production.  You will need to be able to play a musical instrument or sing already and will be tasked with arranging music as requested by the Drama Department and the actors.  You must be prepared to attend all extra rehearsals leading up to the production and perform live at all performance evenings.
