I joined Regents in 2010, having been a Music and Science Coordinator in my last three schools. I have also been History, PE, and Numeracy Coordinator. I was drawn to work at Regents because of its academic excellence and its strong philosophy of teaching ‘the whole child’; its strong emphasis on an holistic education. The opportunities this school gives its pupils are second to none.
I have a very broad spectrum of interests, which is why I became a Primary school teacher in the first place. Helping children make links between different subjects as well as making connections between different areas within a subject is an aspect of the job that fascinates me. I am a very firm believer in teachers having a high expectation of their pupils, in all subject areas, and I would like to think that when I was a full-time classroom teacher I was able to motivate my pupils in fun and imaginative ways whilst pushing them rigorously to reach their potential.
From 2014 I am the Deputy Head of Primary. One of my goals is that our staff move forward as a unified body in terms of developing their teaching skills and practices so as to best benefit the progression in learning of our pupils. I have a passion for Science and am very keen to develop this subject throughout Primary so that our pupils develop an appreciation for our beautiful planet and universe, from the very big, to the very small.
My other passion in life is music. I have played the piano since the age of four and was a professional musician for eight years, back in the nineties. I even played with Jon Bon Jovi once. I love all kinds of music, my favorite composer being Beethoven; probably the greatest musical artist who ever lived. When not playing the piano, in my spare time I love to go fishing and to play badminton and tennis.
