Amit Garg

Amit graduated from Regents in 2011 and took up a place at Georgia Institute of Technology to study Mechanical Engineering. He now currently works for Axon Enterprise as an Engineering Development Program Associate. He is part of a two-year rotational programme that affords him insight into various engineering departments as well as the company’s diverse products to ensure all customers receive the highest level of quality.

  • Amit Garg

During the two-year IB Diploma Programme at Regents, Amit studied Maths HL, Chemistry HL, Physics HL, Business and Management SL, English SL, and Spanish SL ab initio.

He talks to us about his experience of studying the IBDP at Regents.

“Studying Maths, Chemistry and Physics at Higher Level required me to think
logically and set the foundation for becoming a great engineer. Business and Management, English and Spanish helped me gain confidence in adapting to and communicating in a work environment. Theory of Knowledge helped me to clarify and sift through the muddier nuances of how we understand our world. CAS let me test my limits and push myself to go beyond my comfort zone. Ultimately, the subjects I took in the IB Diploma program did not matter as much as the tempest of ideas I was exposed to and that I absorbed over two years. The IBDP helped me adapt to the stress and demands of University - I knew how to handle the pressure of deadlines I didn’t know how to meet."

Amit fondly remembers his time at Regents with his friends.

"It is the experiences that I got to share with my friends over two years I treasure most. Our trips to Koh Chang, our Literature Retreat, our weekend shenanigans, our participation in Round Square activities (and the 2010 Conference!). And when I say friends, I don’t just mean my classmates, I mean the teachers and the staff too! Those two years were my first foray into what real uncertainty and stress looks like, and what it really meant to make mistakes and take responsibility for my own actions. What remains, though, is not the memory of stress but a profound feeling of support, teamwork and friendship. My friends were and still are terrific role models in their respective ways. They are what I am most fond of when I think back to the IB programme."
