Principal's Welcome

Be ambitious: Of ourselves, of our studies and of our world

Welcome!

Here at The English International School Prague, we recognize that each student is unique, making learning relevant and purposeful for each individual. This allows our students to discover solutions and answers to problems that intrigue them, and then to own the solution they find. The needs of the learner are at the centre of our philosophy.

As the life-long habit of curiosity is developed, nurtured and cultivated throughout life, we aim to constantly acknowledge our learner’s questions, and help them find their answers.

I believe that teaching and learning must foster and develop what makes us unique; our ability to imagine, to think and to ask demanding questions. The right learning environment creates the capacity and will to challenge and discover new ideas and theories. Good questions create new horizons for exploration and discovery.

Our school culture focuses on enquiry-based learning, where everyone can learn to devise and treasure questions, to act on those curiosities, to speculate about what they are doing, and create a cycle of constant learning, reflection and review. It creates exceptionally high expectations, developing key skills, knowledge and understanding as well as encouraging excellent attitudes to learning and metacognition.

The students of our school are special. They are the lifeblood of our school. They embody the aspirations of EISP as enthusiastic, charismatic, ambitious young people with an appetite for learning and thirst for knowledge. We know that students who are happy and secure in their learning environment are more likely to achieve their potential.

We place great value in our working partnership with parents. Integral to your child’s successful learning is the engagement between home and school in the pursuit of excellence. All our staff strive to create a climate of learning with strong, open and positive partnerships between adults, children, young people and the wider community.

Our excellent standards in both teaching and learning create a curriculum that is relevant, rich and rewarding. This encourages creative and critical thinking alongside stimulating and meaningful experiences. Our curriculum celebrates the international character, spirit and diversity within our school and equips our students with the skills and attributes required to become active citizens in a global community.

We continually aim to provide an inclusive, enabling environment which empowers our students to achieve. Our personalized approach to learning embraces and responds to individual learning styles, and provides students with the skills, competence and attitudes for a successful future.

The well-being of our students is paramount and we place great emphasis on building high quality personal and social skills, which have such a positive impact upon standards of achievement and attitudes to learning.

EISP is a special place to learn focused on one principle aim: to provide the best possible learning experience for all where students are prepared to enter their first choice college or university and meet the challenges of the complex world they will inherit.

I look forward to sharing that experience with you and your family.

Warm Regards,

Mel Curtis
