Rhonda graduated with a Bachelor of Education from McGill University in 2002 and has since worked in a wide variety of roles and contexts. She has been a classroom teacher as well as an English and Maths specialist in both public and private schools from Year 1 up to Year 11. Rhonda has worked in Montreal, in Mexico and most recently just outside Montreal in the secondary school she herself attended as a student. These experiences, as well as summers spent working at an ESL camp and the summer school run by the school board, afforded her the opportunity to develop her teaching practice and become an effective classroom practitioner who is committed to ensuring all children receive focused and exciting learning opportunities that support them to reach their full potential. She currently teaches English in Year 7.
Rhonda’s experience heading up student leadership and supporting service in her previous role led to an opportunity to participate in a service project with students in India which involved collaboration with teachers and students from all over the country. This sparked the desire to teach abroad again in order to develop herself both professionally and personally. Rhonda joined NAIS Pudong in 2014 and she is excited to be part of an innovative school in an international setting.
Rhonda loves experiencing new cultures and languages. A keen linguist, Rhonda has recently taken up the challenge of learning Mandarin. Rhonda enjoys exploring markets and festivals, reading and spending time with family and friends. She challenges herself to try activities outside of her comfort zone which recently resulted in a day of scuba diving and a pretty nice feeling of accomplishment at having given it a try.
