Salam was born in Germany and due to her parents’ heritage was raised bilingually with both German and Arabic being her native languages. During her university studies in Duisburg, Germany, she visited England for the first time to gain work experience and immerse herself in the language as part of her degree. She met her now husband Kevin whilst there and decided to move to England after completion of her university studies. She settled down in England, started a family with Kevin and became proud mum to Anders. She has been teaching German, French and some Geography for the past eleven years at schools in England and at her last position she has also led the Languages department.
Salam decided to start a career in international teaching as she enjoys experiencing different cultures due to her multi-cultural background. She is enjoying working at NAIS Pudong as she sees it as a chance to work with international minded people at a school with a strong reputation.
Salam enjoys singing and musical drama. She has been a member of various choirs and amateur dramatic groups and loves the buzz when on stage. Her favourite production so far was Jesus Christ Superstar where she played the main female part, and she is looking forward to be involved with productions at NAIS Pudong. Salam also likes to be creative by making scrapbooks of her son and her travels. She has travelled to many places with her family as she believes that there is a big world out there to explore and whenever she can she will get into the water to enjoy scuba diving and snorkelling.
