The Early Years Cubs kindergarten programme at our international school in Shanghai covers pre-nursery, nursery and reception. Our purpose-built learning spaces and high standards in teaching support children’s early development at this very important stage of their lives.
Here at the British International School Shanghai, Puxi we give children the best possible start to their education by providing a happy, safe, secure and inspirational learning environment. We value all children in a culture of mutual respect and understanding and encourage them to view their peers in the same way; this creates ideal conditions to help every child thrive.
Our highly skilled preschool teachers create a nurturing, child-centred environment where the emphasis is on developing lively, positive and enquiring minds. We engage young learners’ natural curiosity and enthusiasm in order to build the foundations for successful lifelong learning.
Kindergarten learning through play
We believe that it is through structured play that children develop intellectually, creatively, physically, socially and emotionally. Thus, our students' learning is nurtured through purposeful, structured and child-initiated play. We broadly follow the UK Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum but also plan learning and development around the individual needs and interests of each child, using modern assessment methods to ensure that every student makes continuous progress.
We work closely with parents to build open and honest partnerships in which regular communication and mutual support is fundamental. This flexible, supportive approach ensures that every student gets the best possible start to their academic career, and the chance to develop a lifelong love of learning.
