MESSAGES

  • As the weather is beginning to change please make sure your child comes to school with suitable named outdoor clothes;  a raincoat with a hood and rain boots, which they can change into to go outside when it is wet. Please label all items with your child’s name!
  • Swimming days: if your child swims at school, please can you make sure that they are wearing leggings or trousers, and not tights.  Many thanks.
  • Any photos and videos taken in school of groups of children during the normal school day should only be taken by school staff or with the agreement of school staff.  At no point should any images of children at school be shared using social media without the parents’ permission. Thank you for your support.

COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE

The children have enjoyed exploring balloons and bubbles and we will explore this further through stories and rhymes. Some children have enjoyed listening to ‘Owl Babies’. You can also watch this at home.

We  have also been listening to words that rhyme. You can practise this at home by asking your child words that rhyme and reading rhyming stories and poems.

MATHS

The children have enjoyed exploring ‘Numicon’, a mathematics resource. Many of the children have been making patterns with the Numicon pieces and carefully counting the holes in each piece. We will extend this by asking the children to think about which number is bigger and smaller when comparing the Numicon pieces.

KEY VOCABULARY

Bigger, smaller, careful counting, patterns

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

We are continuing to make the most of the nice weather and the children love making use of the big field. We will play ball games where the children will explore rolling, bouncing and throwing the ball as well as running around the field to ‘warm our bodies up’.

We will explore different ways that we can make bubbles and focus on how we can make them different sizes and colours.

EXPRESSIVE ARTS AND DESIGN

The children will be encouraged to act out stories from the books we read in class. We will continue to focus on colour mixing using different paints and materials.

KEY VOCABULARY

Colour names, story language, character, who will you be?
