MESSAGES

  • Children can participate in our weekly swimming lessons once they are toilet trained, and we have many children now enjoying this weekly experience.  If your child is ready for swimming, please send a swimming kit each Wednesday.  This should include a swimsuit, swimhat, towel and goggles.

OUR LEARNING THEMES

The children have been particularly engaged with the different opportunities we have provided this week to explore and experiment with colour. We have seen some wonderful colour mixing using paint, lots of investigation of the transparent coloured blocks, and of course using colourful pens to draw and make marks.  We will continue to use the names of the colours and encourage children to sort and describe objects according to their visual characteristics. We will also move further into our theme of growth and change, looking at signs of growth in our outdoor enviromment and consider what plants need to grow and flourish.

KEY VOCABULARY

Alive, growing, flowers, leaves, stem, soil, plant

LITERACY

Alongside our learning theme of growth we will look at stories that feature plants and seeds. We will introduce traditional tales like ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, and ‘the Enormous Turnip’, talking about the characters in the story, retelling the story, and encouraging the children to join in with the repeated lines.
