Week Beginning 17 April 2017

MESSAGES

  • Warm weather: we are looking forward to enjoying some sunny weather this term. Please do make sure your child has a named sunhat, and when appropriate apply suncream before coming to school.
  • School snacks: it is lovely to see the delicious healthy snacks most children are bringing to school. However, some snack boxes are containing sweets, candy and chocolate which we strongly discourage. If you would like some ideas about what to pack for a healthy snack please do not hesitate to ask your child’s teacher.
  • The librarians are in school until 4:30 on Mondays and Tuesdays, if you want to come and borrow books, you can set up a family account.
  • We would like to do more junk modelling with the children, please can you send in clean, empty, small cardboard boxes for the children to work with.  Empty tissue boxes, cereal boxes or tubes from inside kitchen rolls are ideal.

OUR LEARNING THEMES   

This week children in different classrooms will be working on an emerging interest in cars and vehicles, this will involve learning experiences both indoors and outdoors with creativity, role play, sensory and physical play opportunities.  We will also be spending some time reinforcing our classroom routines encouraging participation and independence.  Songs and stories will feature as an ongoing theme with an emphasis on animal songs and animal noises including jungle and farm animals. ‘Whatever Next’ is a lovely adventure story that some of the children will encounter this week also, with lots of scope to create our own adventures just like in the story.

EXPRESSIVE AND CREATIVE

This week we will be focussed on junk modelling alongside our other art opportunities.  The children will be able to build cars, rockets and other things that they choose using boxes, tubes, tape and glue.  This allows the children to develop their fine motor skills with handling the boxes, using scissors and tape, as well as using their imagination and creativity to design and build their own creations.

DUTCH

Deze week verkennen we modern kunst  aan de hand van  het boek`Kloddertje ` van Lionel Le Néouanic.  Niemand wil met kloddertje spelen want hij is vormeloos.  Tot hij de andere figuren leert hoe ze van vorm kunnen veranderen.  Samen maken ze echte kunstwerken in de trant van Miro en Matisse.   Deze week laten ook wij ons inspireren door het kubisme en we maken collages  met kleuren en vormen.
