It is lovely to see children bringing their special toys to school to show and share with their friends. We would like to remind parents that Friday is our show and tell day, and that it is really helpful if the toys are labelled with your child’s name.
- If your child has an afternoon nap you are welcome to send in personal bedding for your child. Do remember to name all items. We will keep them in school during the week and send home on a Friday.
- Tanzania Day: We are dressing up in non-uniform for Tanzania Day this Friday 21 October and donating 10 RMB each. You can dress in the Tanzania flag colours, something linked with safari or maybe something else! This will help raise money for the Kitefu Primary School in Tanzania.
OUR LEARNING THEME
We have had a wonderful week sharing books and stories with the children. We continue to read these stories, reinforcing early reading skills by acting out the stories, using small world props and providing plenty of opportunities to share books and discuss the events and characters. We will focus o the same three stories: The Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Princess and the Pea, and The Three Little Pigs.

It has been very exciting to see how engaged the children have become with the stories as they became more familiar with them over the week. Some children have used the resources in the unit to retell their favourite parts of the stories. Next week we will extend this learning by exploring story through drama and movement. As we retell the stories we will model to the children how to use masks and other props to act out stories. Which parts of the stories do the children want to retell? Which character will they choose to play? What words will they say? What sort of voice do they need to use? We are sure they will love trip trapping over the bridge as a Billy Goat Gruff, or huffing and puffing as the Big Bad Wolf, or perhaps being a sleepy princess that just can’t get comfortable because of a tiny pea.
