Week Beginning 5 September 2016

Thursday 8 Sept 08.45-09.30 EYC Workshops – find out about out Early Years Curriculum and how we use Tapestry. Designed for new parents, but all welcome.

MESSAGES   

  • Please could you send in a family picture. This can be emailed to you class teacher.  Thank you to all those parents who have aready done this.  We will be using these throughout the week.
  • Junk modelling: please do send in any cardboard tubes and boxes that you no longer need. The children love to use these materials to create models.
  • Tapestry On Line Learning Journal: New parents who have given us an email address to use on our Tapestry Learning Journal should have received an email to activate their account and set up a password. Existing parents should continue to use existing email and password and will receive emails when the Learning Journal is updated. Please let class teachers know if you have any difficulties with this.

OUR LEARNING THEME:  ME AND MY FAMILY

We  will extend our learning theme of “All about Me” but rather than thinking about just ourselves, we will be looking at our whole family. Who is in your family? How are our families the same/different?

The children are creating bonds with their teachers and exploring friendships with their new peers. As a main focus point this week, we will be playing lots of games as a whole group, remembering each other’s names and talking about ourselves.

UNDERSTANDING  THE WORLD

As children look at the photos of their families we will talk about the different people they can see, and reinforce their understanding of belonging to a family. Who is in your family? How many brothers do you have? Do you have a sister?

LITERACY

Children will be invited to draw pictures of themselves and their family members. Lots of opportunities will be provided throughout the unit for the children to engage in mark making. A range of media and materials will be available for the children to explore.

Deze week gaan we op reis met het vliegtuig.  We bouwen de Nederlandse klas om tot een echte luchthaven met incheckbalie, een bagageband en een metaaldetector .  Waar gaat de bagage heen?  Wat kan je allemaal doen op het vliegtuig?   Klik jullie gordels maar vast!
